Wimbledon 2026 Recap: Sinner Repeats, Noskova Wins

13. heinäkuuta 2026

Full Wimbledon 2026 recap — Sinner beats Zverev to defend his title, Noskova stuns for her first Slam. Scores, upsets, and how the odds held up.

After two weeks of high-quality tennis, the 2026 Wimbledon is now over, with Jannik Sinner winning the men’s singles title and Linda Noskova winning the women’s singles title.

While Sinner lived up to the favourites tag, Noskova upset the odds to win her first grand slam title. On the women's side, the favourites, as per odds from Housebets, failed to live up to expectations but will be looking to bounce back when the US Open kicks off next month.

The US Open is the next and final Grand Slam of the year, and you can bet on all the action at Housebets.

Housebets remains the home of tennis betting, including four Grand Slams and the ATP and WTA events.

To place your bets on top tennis events at Housebets, like Wimbledon, log in to your account (or create one if you don't already have one), deposit your preferred cryptocurrency, then go to the sports section to bet on these games.

Wimbleddon was the latest tournament, with Sinner and Noskova emerging as the 2026 singles champions. However, there were also other compelling stories, which we will highlight in this Wimbledon recap piece.

Sinner successfully defends his title

There were question marks surrounding Sinner’s form coming into Wimbledon, but the Italian world No. 1 answered those questions perfectly as he went all the way to defend his title successfully.

Sinner had a little bump at the beginning, though, as he was taken to five sets in round 1 by Miomir Kecmanovic. However, following the first-round wobble, he blitzed his way to the final in three sets, including the semi-final win over Novak Djokovic.

His victory over Djokovic was arguably the most impressive of his wins, as he was just too good for a man who had won seven Wimbledon titles coming into the game.

There was nothing Djokovic could have done that would have stopped Sinner in the semi-final clash. Sinner’s reward for beating Djokovic was a clash with Alexander Zverev in the final.

Zverev came into the tournament on a high after ending his long wait for a Grand Slam title with a win at the French Open.

That relief appeared to help him as he had a stress-free run to the final. The German even appeared to be affected by the pressure as he took the first set in the final.

However, Sinner’s quality won the next three sets to claim a 6-7, 7-6(2), 6-3, 6-4 victory for back-to-back Wimbledon titles.

Linda Noskova's Shocking Win

If Sinner’s win was expected, no one could have predicted Noskova’s run to the title on the women’s side. Although she was ranked 12th in the world coming into the tournament, no one thought she would win, considering her best run before this year was a fourth-round finish.

However, the ninth seed upset the odds by going all the way to win her first grand slam title in brilliant fashion. What’s even more impressive about Noskova is that she was never in trouble aside from her third-round clash with Sorana Cirstea.

Even when it looked like she was going to blow her chances in the final against her friend and fellow Czech, Karolina Muchova, she found a way through.

Muchova had won an emotional rollercoaster semi-final against Coco Gauff and came into the final as the slight favourite, having played in a Grand Slam final before.

After losing the first set, the tenth-seeded player appeared to be on her way out as she found herself 5-2 down in the second. However, she stormed back to take the next five games and send the tie to a decider.

Ideally, another player would have cracked after blowing such a lead, but Noskova regrouped to take the final set 6-3 and win her first Wimbledon title.

Arthur Fery, Serena Williams and other big Wimbledon moments

While Sinner and Noskova grabbed the biggest headlines for their wins, there were also some other big moments, one of which was Arthur Fery’s fairytale run to the semi-final.

No one would have thought that, of all the British hopefuls, the one ranked outside the top 100 with a wildcard would go farthest.

Fery had one of the greatest wildcard runs in Grand Slams as he reached the semi-final. The 24-year-old beat the likes of Grigor Dimitrov and Flavio Cobolli on his way to the semi-final.

While he would eventually lose to Zverev in the semi-final, it was still one of the greatest runs in recent Grand Slam memory.

Away from Fery, another big story to come out of Wimbledon this year was Serena Williams’ return to the tour. Before this year’s edition, Serena’s last appearance at Wimbledon was in 2022.

The 44-year-old signed up for both singles and doubles, but her return was short-lived as she lost in the first round in three sets to Maya Joint. Following her loss, Serena pulled out of her doubles match with her sister Venus Williams due to injury.

What next after Wimbledon?

The tour returns to the ATP and WTA events, with the Bastad Open already underway in Sweden. However, the next big event is the Montreal Masters, which starts next month before the Cincinnati Masters, which starts on August 11.

Once those two events are out of the way, the next big event is the US Open, which is the final Grand Slam of the year.

This runs from August 24 to September 6, and it will feature the top tennis players. At the time of writing this report, Sinner remains the favourite at 1.80 to win again, but that could change if Carlos Alcaraz returns in time from his long-term injury.

On the women's side, Aryna Sabalenka is the favourite at 3.00 to win ahead of Iga Swiatek, who is valued at 6.00.
