The second leg of the Europa League quarter-final takes place on Thursday, with all games finely poised.

Manchester United vs Lyon

The Europa League is all or nothing for Manchester United in what has been a disastrous season. 

The Red Devils are currently 14th in the Premier League with just ten wins all season. They are also out of the FA Cup, meaning the Europa League is their last hope of salvaging something from a disappointing campaign. 

Ruben Amorim’s men host Lyon at Old Trafford, knowing a win will seal their place in the semifinal. While their league form is a thing of pity, Man Utd have been a little decent in the Europa League this season. 

Amorim’s men are the only unbeaten team left in the competition this season, which should give them confidence going into the game against Lyon. 

However, they arrive at the game on the back of a 4-1 loss to Newcastle on Sunday. With nothing left to fight for in the league other than pride, the game against Lyon is now the most important match of the season for Amorim’s men. 

A win will keep their hopes of playing in Europe alive, but a loss will be the end of their season and end of their quest to play European football next season. 

As for Lyon, they are currently fourth in Ligue 1, one point behind Marseille in third and the last automatic qualifying spot for the Champions League. 

Lyon come into the game on the back of a 3-1 win over Auxerre and will feel confident going into the game against United, given they have won seven of their last nine games in all competitions and are unbeaten in their last 12 away games in the Europa League.

Athletic Bilbao vs Rangers&nbsp;

Aside from a place in the semifinal, there is an added motivation for Bilbao to win this game against Rangers as the Europa League final takes place at their home stadium.&nbsp;

The Spanish outfit warmed up for the encounter with a 3-1 win over Rayo Vallecano over the weekend and should have no problem doing the same to Rangers on Thursday night, as they are the only side in the competition with a 100% home record.&nbsp;

As for Rangers, the Europa League have been their best competition in recent years. The Gers reached the final of the competition in 2022 and are hoping to do the same again.&nbsp;
